Evergreen Woods is a life care retirement community that provides a continuum of care including independent living, assisted living services, and long term skilled care. In 2011 Evergreen Woods opened a Supportive Care Neighborhood, an assisted living enclave of 15 apartments, for people needing more care in their apartment homes. The award winning Health Center provides short- and long-term skilled care and The Therapy Suite provides top notch inpatient, outpatient, and in-home therapy providing physical, occupational, speech, and aqua therapy.

Evergreen Woods is a lovely community nestled among the trees on an 88 acre campus in North Branford, Connecticut. It features 249 apartment homes, an abundance of social, cultural and physical activities and events, on-site primary care, swimming and fitness programs, walking trails, and so much more.

As a Director of Rehabilitation, Laurie Higginson manages inpatient, outpatient, and home-care therapy services. Laurie is not only a practicing therapist, she coordinates scheduling, hiring, and billing of occupational, speech, and physical therapies. She provides an ongoing clinical and financial analysis with patient care and budget expectations in alignment—all this in an ever-changing and challenging health care climate.

Laurie is a native of Massachusetts, and graduated with an A.S. in occupational therapy and a B.A. in psychology from Mt. Ida
College. She has ten years in the field of finance and more than fifteen years experience in rehabilitation, and feels each patient brings something valuable to the table to teach her. As a clinician it is Laurie’s duty to encourage her patients to see the healthier version of themselves, and to provide the opportunity for them to achieve that health.
